Tiger Tanuki & Ukiyo Republic 【11th November 2017】
We all need something to warm up our body and soul in this transitional time of the year, don’t we? That is why we prepared the Japanese ART & SAKE event to satisfy you physically and mentally! It is nice to have drinks in broad daylight and see art programs on TV during weekend, but why don’t you do that with us at Sway Gallery, especially because we have invited specialists from various fields of Japanese culture, whose knowledge and stories will reveal to us the real picture of Japanese life style in sacred winter time. Being surrounded by Japanese prints and with a sake cocktail in your hand, let’s make an ordinary Saturday afternoon extraordinary.

PROGRAM for warming you up;

12.45 Kanpai (welcome drink) with winter inspired sake based cocktail by Ukiyo Republic, drinks specialist Kasia Hitchcock

13.00 Introduction to Japanese Prints; “From snow flowers to polar bears” by Tiger Tanuki – Malene Wagner, Japanese art specialist.

13.45 Introduction to the Japanese tradition of drinking sake in winter time by a jounalist Anna Greenhous who is regularly writing about sake for Harpers (drinks trade magazine), amongst other magazines and websites. She judges sake at the International Wine Challenge as well.

14.30 How to prepare and enjoy warm sake presentation by sake educator Satomi Okubo from Enshu Limited, who is certified by the SSI (Sake Service Institute) as a qualified Master of Sake (Kikisake-shi) and Shochu Kikisake-shi. Satomi is a judge in the Sake category of the International Wine Challenge since 2009, alongside becoming the head Sake sommelier at Zuma Restaurant.
