Svetlana was born in Russia and grew up in Khavarosk, a city with strong commercial and cultural ties to Japan. She moved to Tokyo in her 30’s and spent five years studying and learning Yuzen painting. In 2008, she exhibited her work as part of a student collective alongside her master, Mrs Tada. She received high praise, especially as a non-Japanese artist practising a very traditional art form. Then in 2010, she moved to Wales with her family and continued to paint. She has had two shows there, winning positive reviews for her work.
